Learning outcomes of the course unit
Recognize and describe in terms the main psychopathological disorders. Use learning paradigms to hypothesize the origin of a disorder. Use the basic techniques of the clinical interview to evoke new points of view. Knowing how to classify the disorders according to DSM5 and ICD10.
Course contents summary
The course presents the three fundamental areas of clinical psychology (distinguishing between normal and pathological behaviors, classifying and diagnosing pathological behaviors, understanding and modifying pathological behaviors) and the main disorders in developmental age.
Clinical psychology and psychopathology: importance of the context; continuum between normality and pathology; historical and cultural relativism; multiple causality. Forms and models of psychopathology; operationalism and experimental methodology. Diagnosis, functional analysis and hypothesis on the nature of the disorders; inductive-hypothetical-deductive spiral. Principles of the clinical interview: Rogersian, Socratic and functional contextualist. Main disorders of clinical relevance according to the DSM-5. Role of learning and language: paradigms of learning, imitative, classic and operative; techniques and strategies derived from the RFT. Fundamentals of psychotherapy: classic and "third generation" treatments.

Methods of intervention on the various disorders in the program, mainly psychoeducational and based on the three generations of the cognitive behavioral approach
