Learning objectives

The course aims to bring the student to reflect on the ethical-deontological aspects of the profession of Radiology Technician and the knowledge of the increasingly complex issues related to scientific and technological advancement in the health sector

Course unit content

The main ethical problems regarding observance of each other's opinions and the protection of privacy. The rules contained in the code of ethics of the profession, about the relationship with patients, colleagues and family members.

Bioethical and professional ethics
The principles of autonomy, carities and justice, the method and theories. The relationship with the patient. The informed consent. Biotechnology and Medicine. Ethics of resource allocation in health care. Ethics of organ transplantation. Ethics of the beginning and end of life. Notes on the legislation defining and regulating TSRM's exercise , a brief history from the Legislative Decree no. 233,13 September 1946 to the Law 251, 2000.
A brief history of ethics; axiological or ethical values​​, ethical obligations.
The ethics of responsibility in the areas of practice of the profession: the law and health care institutions, their customers, the team, professional hierarchies.
Introduction to philosophy and ethics in the history of the peoples of the east-and west country-absolute ethics and ethics related.
Notes on the concept of individual identity and professional identity
Notes on ethical path as exercise and learning for the acquisition of concrete behavior consistent between ethics and professional conduct (examples of contradictions between morality and ethics)
Notes on the cognitive tools and techniques for the achievement of an ethic of being: to be ethical and ethically correct behavior as a goal.

Bibliography

Lectures will be supported by slides and literature, which will be provided to the students.

Teaching methods

The course is structured in lectures of two hours each. Each meeting will develop one of the topics described in the program. The lesson includes a presentation of the teacher who introduces the topic. The topic is then discussed illustrating the different interpretive approaches. Students are encouraged to express their opinions and discuss. The purpose of providing an opportunity for information and training of critical thinking. At the end of the lesson the teacher makes a summary of the positions emerged and recommended further reading.

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment of the achievement of the objectives of the course will include a presentation of a work in a Power Point. Through questions regarding this presentation will be determined whether the student has achieved the goal of knowledge and understanding of the contents of the different disciplines.
