LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT
To promote a multidisciplinary and top-down view of product design by stimulating
critical analysis of mechanical devices.
To directly experience team work.
To develop the capability to design, write and present tech reports.
To develop hands-on competence in the use a professional CAD software by using
it within project work.
COURSE CONTENTS SUMMARY
To introduce methodologies and interdisciplinary skills required in the different
stages of the technical product development and their application in practice.
To present selected topics of machine design.
To present a professional CAD software for modeling and graphical representation
in mechanical engineering.
To develop the graphical and technical reports of mechanical devices.

Competence check in the use of CAD software.
Oral examination of technical reports developed in group.
Individual presentation of a technical device.
Lectures and meetings at CAD/CAE lab.
Tutoring of project work by team of students.

Design of a predefined mechanical device (for example reciprocating compressor)
and technical report development.
Design of a open-end mechanical device (for example hydraulic lift), including the
market analysis, design specs definition, functional requirements, concept design,
