Learning objectives

The course aims, through an elementary introduction to the Sanskrit grammar, to develop the skills of reading, analysis and understanding of simple texts, also confronting with the research methods of comparative linguistics and Indo-European studies.

Prerequisites

none

Course unit content

Primary purpose of the course is to provide the rudiments of the language (in particular related to the morphology of the name and the verb of classical Sanskrit) both from an indeuropean point of view (with a minimal approach to comparative linguistics) and the more contemporary theoretical theories (rethinking Sanscrit through a reflection of the transformational-generative theory of the deep and superficial cases).
