THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD: VERIFICATION OF PRINCIPLES AND FLUID DYNAMICS FLUID STATICS
Learning outcomes of the course unit
The goal of the course is to introduce the student to the experimental method in basic sciences and medicine, with special reference to statics and dynamics of fluids.
Course contents summary
Experimental validation of Stevin's law and Pascal's principle.
Bernoulli's theoreme and Venturi's effect.
Experimental validation of Ohm's laws.
Calorimeter and thermal effects of electric currents.
The course consists in a series of simple experiments, carried out in a dedicated laboratory.
Experiments are carried by small groups of students, with a special care for the development of their authonomy.
Assessment methods and criteria
At the end of the course, the students will compile a written description of one of the experimets they have carried out.
Students will receive an idoneity on a yes/no basis, based on the level of comprehension and authonomy achieved.
