ETHICS AND HERMENEUTICS
Learning outcomes of the course unit
The course aims to introduce students to the concept of justice in hermeneutical reflection of Paul Ricoeur. It aims to develop understanding of the concept of historicity of understanding; interlacing between "tradition" and "innovation".
Knowledge and understanding: to know is a fundemantal problem of the History of Philosophy, trought a hermeneutical reflection that clarifies the multiple configurations assumed by historical-philosophical temporally distant; use the appropriate terminology and ways of expression of the discipline in oral and written forms.
Knoowledge and undertanding applied:being able to formulate a reserach problem, looking for the appropriate sources and bibliography; present and discuss in a clear and proper research and its results.
Making judments: be aware of the standards and qualities required of a scientific research and publication, including the critical awareness and intellectual honesty.
Communication skills: writing, speaking,and listening in order to comply with the different uses of language and know how to present complex issues to specialist and non specialist.
Learning skills: demonstrate a systematic comprehension and understanding of a solid body of knowledge to continue their studies in a academic discipline or to pursue a professional practice.
Understanding of both contemporary hermeneutics.
Course contents summary
The interpretation of Paul Ricoeur on justice.
The course aims to introduce students to the reflection on justice contained in Soi-meme comme un autre (Paris, Seuil 1990).Ricoeur shows how the area of justice includes three references: the good, the moral obligation, practical wisdom (phronesis) for Ricoeur founds in justice the ground of a possible dialectical encounter them.
The bibliography presented is indicative and the exam program will be speciefed during the course.
