Integrated course unit module: HEARING AIDS I

Learning objectives

The module is part of the Audiology The Integrated Course of Hearing 1 (1st year-1st semester of CdS in Technical Audiprotesiche) and has the objective of allowing the student to know and to understand the hearing loss and the essential elements and exams fundamental dell'Audiometria and dell'Impedenzometria. The student must acquire the ability to use knowledge and understanding in order to identify the audiological tests and interpret the diagnostic of patients with hearing loss.

Course unit content

The first lessons illustrate the study of auditory function, subjective and objective. The liminal tonal audiometry is the first part, which is crucial for the classification of hearing loss. The research methods of the auditory threshold, masking the contralateral ear and proof of Weber are an integral part of the audiometric test. The techniques of tonal audiometry supraliminal are essential for understanding the recruitment and auditory fatigue (Fowler, SISI, Luscher, Carhart). The second part of the lesson deals with the impedance analysis, technical objective, in his chapters of tympanometry, stapedial reflex, Study of tubal function.

Teaching methods

The lessons require oral presentation in video-projection of the contents with the help of filmed documentation of specific audiological and clinical aspects. The last minutes of class are reserved for questions of clarification from the students. It provides for the discussion of clinical cases emblematic.

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment of learning and knowledge takes place during the appeals provided for by the teaching calendar, by oral, in the presence of the Committee of Professors of the Integrated Course of Hearing I. The student must be able to demonstrate knowledge audiological, in particular in audiometry and impedenzometry.
