Integrated course unit module: HEALTH AND CORPORATE ECONOMICS

Learning objectives

1) Knowledge and understanding: At the end of the course students
know the mechanisms of financing the national health system and major regional systems; know the system of health indicators and the main tools of supply and demand 'offer
II) Skills. After completing the course the student will use the main tools
on the demand side and the supply of a health system and use and interpret health indicators

Course unit content

- Analysis of the operational unit / department: identification and development of indicators of input, process, output and outcome (eg. Average length of stay, case mix index, performance index, etc.) with the objective of evaluating the performance UO / department in space (benchmarking with similar groups) and in time (evolution of the levels of efficiency and effectiveness within the company).
- Development of a new health service: the creation of a new service (or modification of an existing one) is consistent with the needs of the local community requires a study of a number of variables to assess the actual feasibility (estimate of potential demand, analysis supply, preparation of a business plan
