To provide knowledge regarding the evaluation of the thermal behavior of both components of technical systems, both of building components.

Applied thermodynamics, heat transfer in buildings.
Course contents
Turbines, pumps, compressors, valves, refrigeration cycles (gas, steam, absorption). Heat transfer. Fourier law and equation. Newton's law. Nusselt, Prandtl, Reynolds, Grashof numbers. Blackbody laws. View factors. Solar energy gains in buildings. Internal gains. Thermal behavior of windows. Energy losses from buildings, transmission and ventilation. Losses towards the ground. Thermal bridges. Thermal transients in buildings.
