Learning objectives

Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course, the student will have acquired the basic knowledge related to the management of quality and safety in manufacturing or service companies.

Applying knowledge and understanding
The student will be able to manage the most usefull practices of quality control, quality certification, management and safety at work, in relation to the application context. The student will be able to use the acquired knowledge to analyze and process numerical data to support their decision-making.

Making judgments
The student will be able to assess the impact of decisions relating to quality management and maintenance in the company or in the public domain, evaluating and knowing what actions to take to increase safety in the workplace, in line with the legal requirements

Communication skills
The student will acquire specific vocabulary relating to the management of quality and safety as well as maintenance. It is expected that at the end of the course, the student is able to communicate, orally and in writing, including by resolution of numerical problems, the main contents of the course

Learning skills
Students who have attended the course will be able to deepen their knowledge in the field of quality management, maintenance and safety, through consultation autonomous specialized texts, journals or dissemination, even outside of the topics covered closely in class.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Introduction to Business Management Systems.
The evolution of the concept of quality.
Traditional and modern approach to quality.
Strategy implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM).
Quality management in production processes.
Problem solving and statistical tools applicable to Quality.
The continuous improvement. International quality standards (ISO 9000).
Maintenance Management.
The reliability of industrial plants.
Technical risk assessment: FTA, FMECA, HAZOP.
Maintenance of industrial plants and culture maintenance.
The unit of measurement of system performance maintenance.
Types of maintenance: incidental; improve.
The maintenance engineering and outsourcing of maintenance of industrial plants.
The global service.
The management of spare parts.
The CMMS (Computerized Management Systems Mainenance)

SAFETY MANAGEMENT

International Standards for Safety and Environment (ISO 14001, EMAS, BS 8800, OHSAS 18001, OHSAS 18002).
Risk factors in productive activities.
Detection and measurement of risk factors.
Statistical analysis and data interpretation.
Maps of risk.
Some industrial activities are subject to risks of major accidents (Legislative Decree no. 334/99 - "a Seveso").
