Learning outcomes of the course unit
Course objective is to provide students with elementary knowledge of motion analysis tools and techniques, of their underlying principles, and of their application fields.
An additional objective is to ascertain and improve students' ability in using quantitative data analysis tools, such as spreasheets, for human performance data analysis.
Course contents summary
Tools and techniques for human motion analysis and performance data management.
Practice with spreadsheet for data analysis.
Handouts with lecture notes available in classroom.
Classroom lectures with slides and short video clips. Each student attending the lecture is required to contribute to the discussion concerning the described motion analysis tool or technique.
Instructor-driven excercises with spreadsheet tool. Students are invited to bring and use their own device (laptop or tablet) and solve the proposed exercises. Discussion at the end of each spreadsheet exercise will verify that the exposed concept has been understood by all students.
Assessment methods and criteria
Registered student attendance to lectures. Concept acquisition is verified by interactive discussion during lectures and with a final quiz. The ability to use a spreadsheet application for data analysis is verified during lectures by means of exercises.
Optional individual assignment at end of lectures: paper describing a specific motion analysis tool or technique (free pertinent subject, with fixed paper return deadline).
