The course is aimed at providing students the knowledge of the molecular bases of the interaction between drugs and proteins with the goal of the understanding the detreminants controlling specificity and affinity.
Definition of chemical space, and principles of protein-ligand (drug) recognition. Enzymes as drug targets.
Receptors as drug targets.
Channels and transmembrane proteins as drug targets.
Computational and experimental methods for the investigation of protein-drug recognition.

I PRINCIPI DI BIOCHIMICA DI LEHNINGER 5 ed, ZANICHELLI
The topics of the course will be delivered with oral presentations associated with informatics tools and visits to laboratories
The evaluation of the candidate will take place with an oral exam aimed at evaluating the knowledge of the candidate on the course program and hher/his understanding of the principles that control the protein-drug recognition. The oral exam will be held at the same time for both modules.
