Learning objectives

- Lexical analysis and richness;
- correct use of the monolingual and bilingual dictionary;
- recognition of the most important difficulties in the transfert from French to Italian and viceversa;
- development of the students' critical capacities and of their literary sensibility.

Prerequisites

It is necessary for the students to possess B2 Level of the CERC (Cadre Européen de Référence pour les Langues), in order to follow appropriately the course. The lessons will be totallly taught in French.

Course unit content

Knowledge of the basical elements of the translation theory and approach to the main translation techniques.

The students that need or desire to revise or to deepen the fondamental subjects of French Grammar, are kindky requested to consult the following volumes:

- Front lesson;
- Audio and Video documents;
- Analysis of different linguistic registers: literary, familiar, argotic, etc...;
- Use of the bilingual and monolingual dictionary.

Assessment methods and criteria

The final Examination will be composed by 2 parts:
a) a written test, concerning the translation of a literary text from French into Italian.
This test aims at the evaluation of the students' translating competence obtained during the course and the relative Seminar;
b) an oral Test, during which the students' competence will be verified about the main translating processes and technics.
The written test is propedeutic to the oral one. Only the students that obtained 18/30 or more coud stand the oral test.
