Learning objectives

The student, at the end of the first year of the course, must be able to relate to the person, identify the needs that are the basis of physiological processes, respond to them using a scientific method working with various figures of the team care.

Course unit content

The training aims to make the student able to:
welcome and orient the person and his family between practice settings;
communicate with the patient and her family by adopting methods of communication interpersonal verbal and nonverbal suitable and facilitating;
run the nursing assessment, recording significant data for the estimation of care needs;
identify the type of reaction of the patient and family members to the disease, the treatment and hospitalization;
assess the needs of information and education of the patient and his family;
develop diagnostic reasoning skills, recognizing and evaluating care needs, including on the basis of information obtained from appropriate measurement scales, relating them to the signs and symptoms detected;
successfully run its own activities of nursing basic support: model of activity and exercise, nutritional and metabolic model; model of elimination; model of perception and health management.

Teaching methods

The training activities of the first year (17 CFU) is realized in the offices of general and specialized medicine of the University Hospital of Parma, the Company Local Health Authority of Parma and at private organizations affiliated with the University of Parma.
And 'provided an experience of 420 hours, in the same unit, alongside a clinical tutor. The experience involves 360 hours of programming to be carried out within the operational unit and 60 hours to devote to the preparation and revision of the clinical case.

Assessment methods and criteria

You are not allowed to frequency of training if you do not have obtained the certificates of frequency of disciplinary modules: general nursing methodology 1, History, nursing theory and bioethics and general hygiene and epidemiology.
There has also admitted to the frequency of the training if you do not have obtained the certificates of attendance and the positive assessment of the disciplinary modules: one years clinical laboratory and the laboratory of the basic tasks.
During the internship is at least one ongoing formative assessment, on the basis of which can be reviewed some aspects of the internship program.
The evaluation of the placement is made by the clinical tutor who has been entrusted with the student.
The positive evaluation of the internship allows the student to register for the internship one years in the dates of appeal provided for in the exam timetable.
The exam consists of the discussion of a case study and evaluation of skills required and check list procedures learned in the laboratory.
