Learning outcomes of the course unit
Knowledge and understanding:
At the end of the course the student will learn the basic principles necessary to the evaluation of the energy, environmental, technological and structural buildings performances.
Applying knowledge and understanding:
At the end of the course the student should have acquired applied knowledge on building design in relation to the environmental, energy, structural and technological performances. He must also know the main reference standards within the field.
By the end of the course the student will have the tools to critically evaluate the design choices in the relation to the environmental, energy, structural and technological buildings performances.
the student must possess the ability to present clearly the procedure adopted in the assessment of the environmental, energy, structural and technological buildings performances.
To follow the course with profit requires knowledge of the basic concepts of Applied Physics, Building Science, Technical Architecture, Structural Engineering.
Course contents summary
The course aims to provide expertise on the design of the buildings in relation to the environmental, energy, structural and technological performances. The first part of the course consists of a series of seminars on specific themes, performed by the various teachers of the course. The activity is completed with a project work to be carried out in the second part of the course under the supervision of a tutor, teacher of the course. The scientific disciplinary fields involved are: ING-IND/10 - Applied Physics, ICAR/08 - Building Science, ICAR/10 - Technical Architecture, ICAR/09 - Structural Engineering.

The first part of the course consists of a series of seminars on specific topics. The second part of the course is devoted to the design work to be performed under the supervision of a tutor, teacher of the course. During the course guided tours to buildings of special interest for the energy and / or structural performances are performed.
Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment is performed both during the year, on the occasion of meetings with the tutor for the discussion of the project work, and at the end of the course through the evaluation of the work, presented by the student with the help of Power Point software.
Lecture attendance is compulsary.
