Learning outcomes of the course unit
Students will gain a good knowledge of twentieth-century literature and in-depth skills in analysing and commenting upon the phenomenon of women’s writing in the last century.
Good knowledge of French. The course is taught in French.
Course contents summary
Women’s writing in twentieth-century France
Through the works of some particularly emblematic female writers of twentieth-century literature, such as Colette, Nathalie Sarraute, Simone de Beauvoir, Margherite Yourcenar and Marguerite Duras, the course aims to illustrate one of the major new developments of the twentieth century: the proliferation of women’s writing, albeit with different aims and purposes.
