Learning objectives

The course provides basic knowledge on: 1. microeconomics, 2. agri-food economics, 3. national and international legislation on GMOs to provide the students with an adequate socio economic framework to analyze GMOs.

Course unit content

The first part of the course aims at providing the students with the principles of micro economics.
The second part analyses the Italian agri-food system in the context of the European Agricultural Policy and World Trade Organization. The legislative ground and the economic issues on biotechnologies are then studied.
In the third part the basics of economics and production management are considered.
