Physical activity is an integral part of education. The University of Parma thus provides opportunities to combine sport with study through its CUS.
The University CUS manages the sport facilities, amateur and competitive sports activities, and provides sports services to the students of the University of Parma.
Each year, the University of Parma CUS organises preparatory training sessions for various sports - horse-riding, aerobics, gymnastics, golf, swimming, volleyball, basketball, pre-skiing exercises, body building, tennis, martial arts, modern and Latin American dancing, athletics, fencing, archery, rugby, table tennis, and triathlon, as well as a number of tournaments reserved to students - five-a-side football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, seven-a-side rugby, fencing, golf, beach volleyball, athletics, and table tennis.
The University of Parma CUS organises its own amateur and competitive sports events. Several inter-faculty tournaments are organised for both individual and team sports during each academic year. Competition-wise, the University of Parma CUS competes in National University Championships (organised by CUSI - Centro Universitario Sportivo Italiano, Italian University Sports Centre), obtaining excellent results each year, as well as in championships organised by the various sports leagues. The events it organises are of local and national importance, both in the university field and for the promotion of sport in general. A large number of activities are organised for the disabled - not limited to those attending the university - and for events other than sport.
Last but not least, the University of Parma CUS plans sports activities in collaboration with Italian and Foreign Universities, with a view to promoting sports & cultural exchanges between its students and those from other universities.
