Academic calendar and course catalogue
Contact the Erasmus and International Home if you don’t know who is the Professor responsible for your specific Double Degree Programme at the University of Parma: this reference person will help you with the elaboration of your study plan and, in most cases, will sign your Learning Agreement.
We recommend that you check the Academic Calendar in order to organise your stay.
The first semester generally starts in September/October and ends in January, while the second semester starts in February/March and ends in June. Examinations are usually held in the winter session (January and February), the summer session (June and July) and the autumn session (September and October).
However, course and exam periods vary for each Department: check the Departments websites for detailed information on academic calendars and lecture timetables.
Information about the courses is available in the Course Catalogue of the University of Parma.
Select the relevant Department connected to your field of study, then one of the degree courses offered by each Department; after that, open the section “Course structure diagram with credits” that lists the subjects included in each degree: by selecting each one of them, you will find the subject details (such as name, code, language of instruction, credits, semester, syllabus).
Please note: the English version of the Course Catalogue is only a translation! The language of instruction of the courses must be checked in the subject details. On your Learning Agreement, the courses taught in Italian must be written with their Italian name, that can be checked on the italian version of the Course Catalogue.
The availability of a subject in a specific academic year can then be checked by using the tool Ricerca Insegnamenti.
Most courses at the University of Parma are taught in Italian. However, there are some Master’s Degree courses and some single course units taught in English: check the list of courses taught in English at the University of Parma.
For any academic enquiries, you can contact one of the Departmental Coordinators for international mobility or, in any case, the Professor responsible for your specific Double Degree Programme.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR FIRST SEMESTER STUDENTS
Since the Course Catalogue of each academic year is officially published only during the summer, you can prepare a provisional Learning Agreement using information of the previous year and then change it, if necessary. However, during the application period, our office will send to the nominated students a preliminary outline of the course list, as soon as it is available.
Detailed lectures timetables and exam calendars are generally published during the summer as well as on the Departments websites. In that period our office publishes and keep updated a summary of the main semester dates for each Department as soon as they are available. In the meantime, in order to get an idea, we suggest that you check the information published for the previous academic year.
