Each Department at the University of Parma establishes a minimum language level (CEFR classification) required for exchange students, in Italian and/or English according to the language of instruction of the chosen subjects. The language requirements of the Department which you will enroll on (depending on your study area) are available in the Info Sheet of the University of Parma (last section). The Learning Agreement must include the language level that the student already has or agrees to acquire by the start of the study period.
The University of Parma organises courses of Italian as a foreign language, starting from A2 level, to help foreign students reach at least B1 level before sitting exams. Exchange students who aim to attend these courses must include them in their Learning Agreement by using the following course codes and names:
1006315 - LINGUA ITALIANA PER STRANIERI I (4 ECTS) 1006321 - LINGUA ITALIANA PER STRANIERI II (4 ECTS) 1006583 – LINGUA ITALIANA PER STRANIERI III (4 ECTS)
In order to take part in the Italian courses students must be in Parma by the date of the entry test (12th September 2019 for the first semester 2019/2020, 6th of February 2020 for the second semester 2019/2020), so that they can have a place in the class matching their level. Further information is available on the web page dedicated to the Italian courses for foreigners, on the website of the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Industries.
