Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to examine topics relating to the history of linguistics.
Prerequisites
Students must have taken Module A in General Linguistics.
Course unit content
Module B (5 learning credits) will provide a brief overview of the history of the discipline, from ancient times to the present day, examining its main theories with particular attention to comparative linguistics on the one hand and to the twentieth century on the other.

Teaching methods
The course will include both classroom lectures and more detailed study in the form of seminars. <br />
For assessment purposes the course will include an oral discussion of the topics covered in the course. <br />
