Learning objectives

a. Knowledge and understanding: the student will consolidate knowledge on sustainability and corporate social responsibility as well as related communication issues. The student will have the necessary knowledge to critically analyze the main tools of social and environmental reporting.
b. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: the student will be able to critically interpret the CSR initiatives and strategies adopted by companies, through the reading and analysis of the main social and environmental reporting documents.
c. Making judgements: students will appreciate the correctness and completeness of the most common social and environmental reporting documents produced by companies, understanding the meaning of the policies and strategies described in it and interpreting and evaluating them with critical judgment.
d. Communication skills: at the end of the course the student will have acquired problem analysis skills (problem solving skills), relational skills and the ability to discuss - in an proper language - different topics and interlocutors.
e. Learning skills: at the end of the training course, the student will develop a correct approach to the analysis of case studies; testimonials and presentations of business cases will stimulate the understanding of the concrete application of the concepts studied in business realities.

Prerequisites

Knowledge about corporate social responsibility, sustainability and accountability.

Course unit content

The course deals with the issue of sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR), deepening its impact on disclosuer and reporting. In the light of the concepts of sustainable development and sustainability, the laboratory embraces a corporate governance perspective that considers both the economic-financial aspects and the environmental, social and sustainability impacts. The lectures deal in particular with the management and communication aspects that characterise companies that adopt behaviours of social responsibility, taking up the main theoretical aspects and deepening them through the analysis of cases, testimonies and seminars.

Teaching methods

Knowledge and understanding (a) and Ability to apply knowledge and understanding (b) will be achieved through frontal lessons, seminaries and testimonials. Autonomy of judgment (c), Communication skills (d) and Ability to learn (d), through exercises and case analysis.

Assessment methods and criteria

The achievement of the objectives will be verified through the performance of group or individual work. The analysis of case studies can ensur the
knowledge and the ability to apply the knowledge. The discussion during the working class can ensure the ability to communicate with technical language appropriate, their independence of judgment and the ability to learn. The vote will be expressed in 30/30 and the praise will be given to particularly deserving students who have demonstrated an excellent ability to apply the knowledge acquired to the specific problem in question, a significant autonomy of judgment, and considerable ability and communicative effectiveness.
