Students will be able to:
1. To choose appropriate bibliographic sources.
2. To performe queries on the most used electronic sources (catalogues,
bibliographic data banks with particular emphasis on PubMed).
3. To get the original documents in electronic or hard copy format,
evaluating economic and practical issues.

Tools for bibliographic research
Catalogues and bibliographic data banks: what they are, what is their
u s e f u l n e s s .
The caralogues:
queries in OPAC, OPAC structure, query methods.
Electronic periodicals:
What they are, How to use them.
SFX catalogue of electronic periodicals.
Bibliographic data banks.
Principles and structure of an electronic bibliographic data bank. Medline:
Record structure, Index rules.
Use of PubMed for electronic queries.
Query software, language, and synthaxis: Boolean operators.
Query language: free query and use of thesaurus.
