Full Professor of Building Techniques at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Parma.
Born in Piacenza on the 24th april 1949, he graduated in 1973, with full grades (100/100) in civil engineering (structural sector) at the Politecnico di Milano.
In 1974 he entered the research group led by prof. S. Dei Poli at the former Institute for Buildings Science and Technique at the Politecnico di Milano.
Assistant Professor since 1976, he became Associate Professor in 1981 and kept the Building Techniques course at the Faculty of Egineering of the Politecnico di Milano.
In march 1991 he became Full Professor and kept the course of Building Technique at the Politecnico di Torino. Since 1994 he is Full Professor at the University of Parma.
In 1995 he entered the National Committe for the laws on reinforced concrete buildings.
He was councellor for advanced design problems in large reinforced concrete structures and in structural restoration of important monuments both in Italy and abroad (e.i. the Cathedral of Parma, the Castle of Fontanellato, the Alvar Aalto Finlandia Hall, the French Panthon). He also studied the collapse in 1989 of the Civic Tower of Pavia.
He kept many conferences and lectures in different Universities.

Research topics
Two are the main research fields of prof. Ivo Iori.
The first one concerns studies on the knowledge of the mechanical behaviour of materials, with particular attention to the fracture mechanics (both linear and non-linear) and to the stress-strain relations.
The second field includes studies on the structural analysis of one and two dimensional elements in reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete.
Prof. Iori is author of more than 160 scientific papers and of a book titled \\"Minimal instruments of building science\\" (MUP Editore, 2009).
