Welcome from the Rector

As the Rector of the University of Parma, I am honored to welcome you to our official website. This website has been designed with the intention of becoming a valuable source of timely information and news, enabling you to familiarize yourself with our University, its policies, and other procedures that are basic for its smooth functioning.

Since 962 AD, the University has secured its renowned tradition of education. It was here that Petrarch sent his son to study and Pope Innocent IV and Pope Martin IV were our scholars. Today, over 30,000 students from all walks of life are enrolled at the University, studying under 973 teachers throughout 12 faculties, and our mission has remained unchanged—to facilitate intensive academic achievement at the forefront of world-class education.

We take great pride in providing an exciting learning environment within a beautiful city, while at the same time offering an extensive array of concentrated academic programs in 39 First Degree courses, 37 Advanced Degree courses, and 6 one-cycle Degree courses. With our commitment to meet the educational needs of our students and prepare them for the changing labour market demands, we offer efficient career and course counselling through excellent teaching, learning and support. Students have access to the ultimate first-rate resources and facilities for research provided by experienced and committed staff, and the University finances cultural and social activities organized by students. Having about 70% of our students coming from outside the province of Parma, we recognize that our responsibility is to allow every student to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially, each in his or her own way.
