The town
A friendly city for modern living
Busy, but not chaotic; tidy but not a bit boring, beautiful, efficient, appealing. In a national survey carried out by the financial newspaper “Sole 24 Ore” Parma constantly ranks in the top for its quality of life. A city of 188,000 inhabitants, Parma is an ideal size for using a bicycle. The town is surrounded by the uncontaminated countryside. To the North, there are the charming plains of the Po river; to the South, the woods of the Apennines, and one hour away, the Ligurian Sea. In Parma, you can breathe the quality of life in the air, and within this atmosphere, the University plays an active role. All this is because of the many economic activities, the food industry and the Emilian way of life.
Much to see, do, and discover
A city immersed in art, Parma has around twenty theatres and cinemas, along with the greatest works by Correggio and Parmigianino. Its world famous opera house, the Verdi festival, and the new “Paganini” auditorium designed by Renzo Piano are only few of the charms in Parma. International jazz and theatre festivals, rock concerts, art shows and galleries are always available to attend. For sports, the soccer, rugby, baseball, woman’s volleyball and basketball teams all rank in the highest Italian leagues. Pick any one of the events that Parma offers throughout the year and you will realize that here, cultural life never stops.
